Recurring myositis ossificans traumatica of temporal muscle: A case report

چکیده

Introduction. Myositis ossificans traumatica (MOT) refers to a benign, localized ectopic bone formation within skeletal muscle bundles related traumatic injury. MOT rarely affects masticatory muscles, and it represents major diagnostic therapeutic problem for clinicians. Currently, the treatment of choice is complete excision calcified mass after maturation resection affected bone. Case report. A 47-year-old male presented with month-long severe restriction mouth opening that was followed by extraction right lower third molar tooth under local anesthesia. computed tomography (CT) scan revealed in temporal extending coronoid process. Surgical performed. Six years surgery, patient reported same symptoms. The CT medial pterygoid muscle. reoperated, sent postoperative physical treatment. Conclusion. challenge surgeons due unclear etiology frequent recurrences surgical Further research needed clarify mechanisms ossification order develop conservative approaches.
